Health Policy and Social Science Research

Welcome to the Division of Health Policy and
Social Science Research (HPSSR)

What is HPSSR?
The following information provides descriptions of the core faculty members of the Division of Health Policy and Social Science Research (HPSSR) in the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine at Rockford (UIC-COM-R). HPSSR is directed by Sherry Falsetti, Ph.D., who also serves as the Associate Head of the DFCM.

In 2009, the DFCM formed a new division called HPSSR. The rationale for creating the new division was to consolidate research activities among psychologists and physicians in the DFCM and to incorporate Rockford Health Systems Researchinto the new division. For more than 20 years, the Health Systems Research unit has served the UIC-COM-R and organizations across northern Illinois with applied research, needs assessments and feasibility studies, and provided social, demographic and economic information to the region through their newsletter and community presentations. The development of HPSSR has established a strong foundation to build research at the UIC-COM-R and to study important social science and health issues with scientific rigor both locally and nationally.
